How Friends Can Chat With You On WhatsApp Without Saving Your Phone Number

I'm very sure that not everybody knows about this. I was also surprise the day I discovered that someone could chat with you right away by just clicking on a link and not necessarily having to save your phone number. This WhatsApp feature is called Click to Chat.

WhatsApp's Click to Chat feature allows you to begin a chat with someone as long as you know this person’s phone number. You can as well create a link that will allow you to start a chat with them. By clicking the link, a chat with the person automatically opens. Click to Chat works on both your phone and WhatsApp Web.

HOW TO CREATE YOUR OWN LINK
In creating your own link, you will need to exercise patience in getting this done successfully. You can create your own link by using https://api.whatsapp.com/send?phone= followed by the person's full phone number in international format. You will have to know your country international code format for this to work because you will need to omit any zeroes, brackets or dashes when adding the phone number in international format.

The examples of the format you are going to use below:
Use: https://api.whatsapp.com/send?phone=2348031234567

If you use:
https://api.whatsapp.com/send?phone=+234-(803)1234567
this is going to render the link useless and not clickable.

HOW TO CREATE YOUR OWN LINK WITH A PRE-FILLED MESSAGE
You can also create your own link with a pre-filled message. This will automatically appear in the text field of a chat whenever you are about to start chatting. This might serves as a welcome message or it could also be anything you wish to be there.

To get this done, use:

https://api.whatsapp.com/sendphone=whatsappphonenumber&text=urlencodedtext

where whatsappphonenumber is a full phone number in international format and urlencodedtext is the URL-encoded pre-filled message that you want to display to whoever click on the link.

See example below:
https://api.whatsapp.com/sendphone=2348031234567&text=Hi,%20%people20%call20me%20by%20my%20nickname%20IDEAS%20

You can as well create a link with just a pre-filled message only. After clicking on the link, you will be shown a list of contacts you can send your message to.

See example of a pre-filled message link only:
use https://api.whatsapp.com/send?text=urlencodedtext

Example:
https://api.whatsapp.com/send?text=I'm%20glad%20we%20could%20connect%20together

You will notice that inputting a pre-filled message can be confusing because of how it is join together. If you observe carefully, you will notice %20 this actually represent space in between your words. If you could get this right, then, you will successfully get a link for yourself.

Note: Please keep in mind that the phone number must have an active account on WhatsApp.
