There is a way to use WhatsApp without a SIM card

Ok, it’s true that when you’re installing WhatsApp, one of the first things you’re asked for is a phone number in order to receive a verification code. And it’s also true that every account on WhatsApp is connected to a phone number. But, although you need a SIM card to set up an account, you don't necessarily need one in the device on which you want to use WhatsApp.

If you're using a smartphone or tablet without a SIM card, you can continue using WhatsApp as long as you have an account associated with another phone. And you don’t need to stop using one device in order to access WhatsApp on another. 

You can turn your SIM-less device into an extension of your existing WhatsApp account by following these steps:

• 1. Open Chrome on the phone or tablet without a SIM card and access the settings in the top right.

• 2. Choose 'View as computer'.

• 3. Now go to the official Web page of WhatsApp, which will display a QR code.

• 4. Open WhatsApp with the phone that has a SIM card, then go to the settings in the top right corner, select 'WhatsApp Web' and scan the QR code on the SIM-less device.

• 5. The device without a SIM will now show all your conversations and contacts, and you can use WhatsApp in the same way you always have.

It's not the easiest way to use WhatsApp but seeing as it allows you to keep messaging as usual without a SIM card, it’s still a pretty useful option.
